How to Qualify For the Hongkong Prize

One of Asia’s most prestigious competitions, the hongkong prize attracts thousands of applicants each year. The non-governmental merit-based award celebrates scientific research with global impact and encourages young scientists to pursue careers in science. Participants are awarded a monetary prize and other perks at an annual ceremony. To maximize your chances of winning, be sure to read the rules and regulations carefully.

The prize is sponsored by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation, with support from the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. Each year, experts from Hong Kong and overseas are invited to select outstanding scientific researchers/teams for their impressive achievements in the following five fields: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, New Materials and Energy, Advanced Manufacturing, and FinTech. The award seeks to inspire local science and technology entrepreneurs to persist in innovative exploration, establish their research bases in Hong Kong, serve the country, and contribute to the world.

This year, finalists ranged from a 20-year-old who founded a nonprofit organization to help homeless students to a professor who developed liquid biopsy, which can detect cancer at an earlier stage. The finalists are dedicated to social justice and community service, making them true role models. In addition, the prize aims to highlight the importance of respecting people’s diversity while celebrating humanity’s many contributions to society.

In order to qualify for the HK Prize, you must be an early-career researcher with at least 3 years of postgraduate training in your field. You must also have published an original article in the journal that addresses your field of study during the award year. Original articles include prospective or retrospective clinical studies, observational and epidemiological studies, basic science studies, meta-analysis, and reviews. However, case reports and letters to the editor are ineligible for the HK Prize.

If you’re an aspiring author, the HK Prize is a great way to boost your career. Not only will you earn a cash prize, but you’ll also gain valuable networking opportunities and the chance to meet industry experts. The competition is open to writers of all ages and levels of experience, but you’ll want to read the rules and regulations thoroughly before entering.
