The Sydney Taylor Book Award in CS:GO

The Sydney Taylor Book Award was established in 2005 to honor the late Professor Sidney Thomas, who devoted his life to scholarship in the areas of art history and humanities. The committee chooses a book that is both outstanding and highly recommended for children.

In 2023, sdy and Monte played 44 official championships (including open and closed qualifiers). In this incredibly busy season, the team played 163 maps in official matches. This incredible grind, combined with a great team spirit and good results, allowed Monte to become the best-performing European CS:GO team of the year.

At the end of the qualifying tournament, sdy was named HLTV MVP after he stomped his rivals and led his team to a 3-0 win over Eternal Fire. The victory marked the Ukrainian rifler’s career-best LAN event, and it is no wonder that he was recognized by HLTV and 1xBet for his performance.

After a solid start of the new year, the sdy and Monte squad qualified for the first major of the year – BLAST Premier: Spring Finals. The team got a wild card and started the qualification by beating ENCE, Cloud9, and FORZE in BO1.

It was sdy’s first major since joining the NAVI roster. He was a stand-in for the NAVI roster for this tournament after benching the regular player, Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhaylov.

During the group stage, sdy helped NAVI to beat TYLOO and Nouns in BO1 and secure a 3:2 score against Heroic in the BO3. Unfortunately, NAVI lost both of the last two matches against APEKS and Astralis.

However, the most important result of this tournament was that sdy and Monte got to the playoffs.

After a tough loss against APEKS, the sdy and Monte squad was eliminated from the tournament.

In the next round, NAVI will meet with the second-best team of the group, Spunj. The match will be held on March 10 at 22:00 GMT+2. The winner of this match will advance to the quarterfinals where they will face Fnatic. We will follow the game live and bring you the latest updates. Follow us on social media to stay tuned!
