The HK Prize and the HK Global Development Prize

The prize money at hong kong pool has increased by around 90% over the past 10 years, but some say it still falls short. Nevertheless, the Club is determined to continue improving its prize structure by increasing the number of Group 1 races, introducing more bonus structures, and boosting the amount of money awarded across all 88 fixtures next season.

The HK Global Development Prize is an opportunity for individuals and organizations to contribute to Hong Kong’s international development efforts and shape its role on the global stage. By participating in this competition, you will have the chance to win a share of a HK$5,000 award to help support your projects!

This year’s prize winners were named today at an awards ceremony held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The winner of the HK$10 million Prize for Innovation and Technology was Prof. WONG Siu Lun Alan from the University of Hong Kong, while the HK$5 million Prize for Innovative Design was awarded to Mr. CHEUNG Chi Fai Benny from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Founded in 2022, the BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize is organised by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation and title-sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. It aims to recognise the pioneering work of scientific researchers in different fields, and serve as an inspiration for young scientists to nurture their innate spirit of innovation, insatiable curiosity, and resolute perseverance so as to build Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub.

A total of HK$15 million in prizes will be awarded this year, up from HK$13 million last year. The top-three finishers in each of the individual sports will receive HK$5m, HK$3m and HK$2m respectively. The prize money for team events is doubled, with HK$12m for a gold medal, HK$6m for a silver, and HK$3m for bronze.

The Hong Kong art community is excited to see so many of its members make the shortlist this year, and two-thirds of those are women, the highest proportion to date. The shortlisted artists will showcase their works at the exhibition at M+, which opens in September next year. The Sigg Prize jury will reconvene in December to name the winning artist, who will be awarded a HK$500,000 prize fund. To ensure the fairness of the draw, employees from HKJC’s security and customer service departments will inspect the materials used in the draw, including boxes and balls, on a regular basis. The draw machine is also X-rayed and locked in a secure location after each draw. In addition, the results of the draws are verified on a daily basis. All these measures are in place to ensure the integrity of the Prize. For more information, visit the official website. You can also subscribe to the prize newsletter. By doing so, you can be among the first to hear about new developments in the prize and its finalists. The newsletter is free to sign up!

In our age of short attention spans and information overload, the art of long form writing is more important than ever. Essays become op-eds. Op-eds become blog posts. Blog posts get shorter and shorter. And when it comes to fiction, it seems like we’ve all gotten into the habit of writing a thousand words in a tweet. The Sidneys stand athwart technology, yelling stop. Each year, the awards honor some of the most thoughtful examples of long-form thought and writing in our field.
